Sparking Safety and Excitement at the Summer Reading Party
Electricity becomes far more exciting when you get to experience it up close!
Franklin PUD was there to celebrate the Mid-Columbia Libraries’ Summer Reading Challenge Finisher Party. As part of the celebration, we gave kids and their parents a close-up look at how electricity is delivered to their homes and, most importantly, how to stay safe around electricity.
With the help of our incredible line crew, families learned about the personal protective equipment used by our crews to work safely on our system, watched a lineman climb a pole the good-old fashion way, and try on the heavy-duty lineman gloves.
The big spark came when the high-voltage demonstration trailer was put into action – then you can really say sparks started to fly! The kids got a chance to pretend to be linemen at our photo-opportunity trailer.
Franklin PUD had a great afternoon sharing important electrical safety information and helping our community learn about the importance of staying safe around power lines.
